Although Blair Williams has played many comedies during his thirteen seasons with the Shaw Festival - farce comedy is still relatively new to him. This season, Williams had an opportunity not only to play a farce, but a farce written by Cheknov. He played Smiornov in The Bear, one of two short farces written by Cheknov that comprise a 90 minute-one-act play titled Love Among The Russians.    FULL STORY

A seasoned theatre actor from Toronto, Sanjay Talwar, is now performing in not only one, but three Shakespeare plays at Stratford Festival. Raymond O’Neill is one great storyteller! Our one -hour interview raced by listening to him talking about making Ruth Draper On Tour. Perhaps that is one of the reasons O’Neill was so drawn to Ruth Draper, the greatest female monologist in the 20th century who told stories throughout her one-woman shows. The idea to put on Gypsy at the Shaw Festival has been around since the time of Artistic Director Christopher Newton. The idea; however, didn’t come to fruition until 2005 - current Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell’s third year. Staging Gypsy was something that Christopher Newton suggested frequently over the years. But Maclellen says, “I just didn’t want to do it at the Royal George. After last year’s show stopping performance as Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls, Bruce Dow has returned to Stratford as Stanley in Hello Dolly and The Baker in Into The Woods. This will be his sixth season performing at the Stratford Festival. He is very excited to return, “It’s a real treat. They are both beautifully written pieces. Micheal Mcginn has had his eye on Bat Boy The Musical since the musical first played Off-Broadway. However, it took him almost two and a half years to find a producer who would truly appreciate his ideas about mounting Bat Boy The Musical in Toronto. “I have seen the show in New York.
